Creative Writing

We are the 2005 fall semester Creative Writing class at Kirtland Community College.  Our instructor is Daniel Crocker.  We are Andrea, Angela, Chelsea, Frank, Jesse, and Stephen.  The first half of the semester is spent studying the art (yes, I said art) of fiction, and the second half studying (the art of) poetry.  This website was created in the hopes to turn more people on to poetry and fiction, and to be a place where poets and writers can congregate and share their art.  There is a forum page where those of you not taking (or able to take) the class can socialize and fellowship with other developing / developed writers.  It is designed to bring the writing community that much closer and to provide a place where writers can get feedback on their work.

A Brief History Of This Site

I, Jesse, have been intimately involved with the Creative Writing program at Kirtland for almost half a decade.  Dan and I have discussed putting together a website.  Well, this year Andrea is in the class, and she's; let's just say that she is a little more motivated when it comes to getting things done.  Or getting other people to get things done.  So here we are, four and a half years after the idea for a website was concieved, it has birthed itself.  (Andrea's note: right on!!)

Reasons For The Site

Just another place for writers.  Actually, this site is being designed for multiple reasons.  The first is give younger writers a place to congregate without shame and intimidation.  To give our class something to do with their time.  And, most of all, to seek out and find people who are interested (seriously interested) in the art.  Writing is an art and just like everybody else, in every profession, or art, we need some sort of fellowship, and this is just another place to get that.  The difference between this site and others is that this is designed and run by our class here at Kirtland, and it is more geared (i said "more geared," not just "geared") toward the writers who are more "new to the faith," so to speak.
